A pretty cool trend that I discovered while working on my other blog C’est l’Heure de l’Apéro is personalized cocktails, what is called the “Signature Drinks”. Instead of offering at the cocktail hour a punch without interest or a glass of champagne without originality, we offer a drink chosen or created to reflect the personality of the bride or the theme of the wedding.
One can take several interesting directions with this trend.
YOUR FAVORITE DRINKS
The first is to simply offer the favorite drinks of the bride and groom and to give them funny names, one for him and one for her.
ACCORDING TO THE THEME OF YOUR WEDDING
The second is to choose drinks that represent the theme of the wedding, for example a champagne cocktail or a posh drink for an elegant wedding.
… refreshing lemonades or special drinks served in mason jars for a “rustic” wedding …
… a beautiful exotic drink or a colorful punch for a beach or destination wedding …
… or an apple and hot cinnamon cider or a snowy Martini for a winter wedding.
The third direction, and the one that I really love, is to choose drinks with the colours of your wedding. The combinations are limitless!
Many different types of cocktails lend themselves to the colour scheme, simply by adding different ingredients to the basic recipe.
You are classic and prefer the sweetness of champagne? Flavour your bubbles with colourful ingredients to make a Champagne Cocktail …
… or have fun creating a custom Mimosa that will charm your guests with its delicate taste. Ideal for a brunch wedding.
You’re more sophisticated and you like cocktails with gin or vodka, get inspired by Bond, James Bond with a Martini …
… or give your wedding a little “Sex and the City” vibe with a Cosmopolitan.
You are more daring and you like tequila and rum, so turn to the very festive Margaritas…
… or the cool Mojitos, whose freshness will please everyone!
You like drinks with several ingredients that taste like a vacation and that you can prepare in advance in beautiful containers, then choose a Sangria …
… or an alcoholic lemonade. One trend that is very popular is the beverage stations, where the guests serve themselves.
There are also a multitude of colourful drinks, created especially for the occasion or known to all, which will stimulate your guests’ taste buds, like the Bloody Ceasars, Daiquiri, Blue Lagoon and Sex on the Beach.
It’s always very considerate to offer an alcohol-free option, for the young or the wise, like a “virgin” version of your Signature Drink, Mocktails, punches or lemonades.
In my next article, I will give you suggestions of Signature Drinks according to the colour or colours you have chosen for your wedding.
